If in good condition, the 140 will handle the 72 inch three blade Woods mower with no problem. More common to see the 60 inch mower though. I used a 60 inch Woods on a 140 for years, including everything from lawn mowing to mowing pastures and sweet corn stalks in my garden. These mowers do an excellent job of lawn mowing. Be aware that correct belt set up is critical on these mowers. You'll need to get a manual to make sure you have it correct. Don't know much about the cost, but I expect you'll have to pay at least $1000 to get a decent used Woods mower. Make sure you get all the mounting parts with it.
