Back in the DOS days (when Windows still had to hve DOS) I wanted to erase a floppy. Told DOS erase *.*. It said are you sure? I typed Y for yes. Only problem is I was on the C drive, so it did exactly what I told it to--I always kept my data in directories, they were intact. Had to reload all the programs, most of which were on CD's, erase *.* also erased the connection between the computer and the disc drive, so I lack to never figured out how to get it back (easy for a computer guru, which I'm not). Also lost hookup to internet, and LAN -- Our computer people were about 300 miles away. After about a week of frustation and several phone calls I finally got it figured out -- never again!
