A couple years ago I dropped the �oil� on a newly aquired �47 Minnie Mo U. The stuff that came out looked like and had the consistency of chocolate pudding - it came out in chunks (took it several days to drain completely�) However dumping in a few gallons of diesel to help flush out the remainder of the old lube, then refilling with 13 gallons of fresh 80W-90 the transmission actually ran quieter. Found also the gear lever works easier too.

So I guess unless you got a large quantity of clear water first when you started to drain - which causes rusting of wetted bearings �n gears � your transmission is probably alright.
