JRV: I told you someone else's idea on how to split a tractor, now my own idea or the way I do it. Choke rear wheels, place a bottle jack under clutch housing. Place a hardwood pallet under front end. (in the case of a narrow front remove front wheels) Block the entire front end using good wood blocking 2 or 3 points. Use ratchet tie down straps to anchor front end to blocking and pallet. Then use a pallet jack to handle the entire front end. I have used this on every thing from SA to a 560 diesel. I even split an articulated tractor with this taking the back half with the jack. The pallet jack is never tied up under some part. One could have a dozen projects on the go at once.
