Heidi, Collecting tractors is like collecting anything else. What catches the attention of one person, may not someone else. What catches my attention is the attention to detail that the builder displayed. Therefore, I like precission models for that reason. As far as what appreciates in value, it is impossible to tell at the time of purchase, unless a particular model has shown a trend, and usually by that time, the average collector is priced out of the market. While one would assume that precission models would appreciate in value the most, that is not necessarily the case. There are quite a few special event models which have appreciated at a far greater rate than some of the precissions. The sad truth is that models appreciate better if left undisturbed in the box, but then they arent enjoyed nearly as much because they aren"t on display. I agree that collecting tractors should be done because one likes the activity of collecting and enjoying them afterward, and not for any potential monetary appreciation.
