I had a similar problem with my 350 after having the carb rebuilt immediately after purchasing the tractor. Clean the plugs and it would run decent for a little while before it would start missing again, and the oil was thin and stank of fuel. The plugs would come out wet and black but not oily (althought the first time or two I mistook the soot & gas combo for oil). The fuel mixture set screw is supposed to be adjusted in 1/4 and 1/2 turns, I finally turned it in 4 or 5 turns and the engine evened out, it had been running so rich the fuel would foul the plugs and then wash down the cylinder(s). This was on an otherwise good engine that would produce 150PSI in each piston. I hope this helps with your problem, otherwise you might be looking at some expensive repairs.
