Although I have no qualms with ordering from a website, in your case it might be best to take the old starter to a dealer or automotive part house so that you can verify you are getting the correct one. I don�t believe that the straight M had a 12 volt starter. Te 6-volt will stand up just fine when used with 12 volts. I converted my M over 20 years ago, it is under a loader that I used to use daily in the winter for feeding. I might have replaced the starter once in that time. Usually when a starter fries it is because of abuse (running too long because of hard starting), low voltage due to corroded connections or too light a battery cables, or the bushings have worn far enough from use to let the armature drag on the fields, not from too much voltage.
