The oil pump bottom plate is aluminum, and does have a tendency to warp. I would suggest checking the plate for warpage. If it is slightly warped, it can be resurfaced, but if the plate has warped alot, you will need to buy a new plate. Also, with the oil pan already removed, it would be a smart idea to check the oil clearance of your rod & main bearings. I also forgot to mention that you should check the pressure relief valve and spring in the oil pump also.
