Is the lever you mention located on the left or right side of the tractor looking forward? I have a 1951 M with a Heisler overdrive and the lever is on the left side. The lever is located close to and outside of the tractor's regular gear shift. It connects to a shaft that enters the transmission about half way down and below the belt pulley drive unit. Also on the same tractor I have a rod on the right side that runs down and connects into the backside of the belly pump below the clutch housing. Don't really know what that one does since I've never used the hydraulics on the tractor. If the tractor has a Heisler overdrive they are really nice and I believe you would find it a highly desireable feature as Dick stated.
