Hi Hugh, I'm like you; I've always had American diesels, and a trainload of 'em too. They just do not smoke. I do like the 310 as far as it's lugging ability and fuel economy. It sounds somewhat like a cross between the 282D and the 360D. However, being old and set in my ways, I will not put up with a smoking IH tractor, so I made the appointment this morning. Just as soon as they are done with my 966, this thing is going in for the high compression pistons. :>) Allan
