Don't know Cubs specifically, but, in general, a magneto don't give a hoot about the electrical system. It's not connected at all. Only thing I can think of that might cause a Farmall confusion is that the little round push/pull switch that an H has is open when pulled out for mags and closed when pulled out for battery ignition. On a mag H the wire runs up to the grounding terminal on the mag. Push button in, switch turns on, grounds the points in the mag to kill it. On a battery ignition H, that button has batt on one side and a wire to the coil on the other. When you pull it out it turns on and puts voltage on the coil. At least that's what I think.
