If I understand your question, the constant mesh gear on the input shaft, the one 4-5 slider goes INTO for 5th, where 5th slider goes in, the outside diameter has no teeth, only at the front. Nothing rides on this turned area which is outside of the internal teeth for 5th and behind the external constant mesh teeth. The actual constant mesh gear is the front countershaft gear down at the bottom.
