I believe so on the newer cultivator. If you have a copy of Guy Fay's Data Book, I think the cover picture is a better view of the same cultivator. I never did a whole lot with the H/M Lift-Alls, but believe the left rear port that you never used was the delayed lift port.

I guess that one side of the front might have a little more spring tension or a little less restriction in the dump circuit that could cause one side to drop first. Playing the control valve just so could restrict one side more than the other (probably what you experienced).
