Good chance that the pump needs to be rebuilt. They are dead simple to do, kits available from Ride Equipment, 814-226-9200. Checking the oil is done via two petcocks on the side of the oil pan, one slightly higer than the other. When filling, open the top one, and pour in oil until it starts to drip out the petcock. When checking, open the bottom one, as long as oil drips out, you're good to go.
