Someone else on this forum gave me this idea and I have been using it ever since. I screw the right sized thread tap into the pilot bearing and as it bottoms out it pushes the bearing out. Also, people have used a shaft that fits the pilot bearing by filling the pilot bearing with grease and then pound on the shaft and it extracts the bearing (have to cover with a rag as some grease flies out).
