Yes, when you are in 5th gear, the power is transmitted from the input shaft (TA output shaft) directly to the pinion shaft as they latterly become one shaft. In all other gears, the power is transmitted by gear reduction to the lower shaft, then transmitted again through gears to the pinion shaft. Fifth gear bypasses both of the gear sets.
