i have a farmall 404 and an IH 2404. both tractors are very simalar. the 404 have a longer torq tube, thats the bigest differance. neither 404 or 2404's ever have a live PTO. it was possible to get a 404 rowcrop with a widefront end, but they are extremly rare. i'd like to see some pics of your 404. i could probally tell you what it was by looking at it. the 2nd lever on the 3 point control is the draft control. oh and by the way, you straddle the transmisson on both 404s, rowcrop and utility, and on 2404's (the 2404 was the industrial 404)
