That is a replacement cut-out. A-C used these types and you can still get them. Terminals should be marked. Usually battwire goes on one terminal and the wire from the A post on the gen goes on the other one. All the cutout does is keep battery from running down when engine is not running. Field terminal on the gen will go to the sw box with the lite sw.
