You DO NOT have to take the belt pulley off,but it may be just as easy.Take the bolts out of the cover on that side. Ithink one is under the belt pulley assembly but will come up enough.Take a small pry bar or big screwdriver or whatever you use to pry with and gently lift up on the cover and stick the starter in at the sane time.Once the starter is in place,but not bolted you can pull out your prybar and bolt everything back dow.Done it several times,today included!
