Yeah! It made me scratch my head the first time.
You have to take off the belt pully drive. Its on top of the transmission and is in place with six bolts. One on each corner and two long suckers in the center. Lift the pully drive out, (part way is good enough, since its a heavy little thing.) There is a gasket around the seal but it is only a splash seal there is no pressure so if it gets damage you can probably stick it back together Ok.
The whole thing takes about 30 minutes R & R.
Should go just fine.
