Cams are the same the 301 has the bigger intake valves.The combine carb inlet faces to the back of the engine if that makes a difference.291 has sleeves with a 33/4 bore,301 is sleeveless at 313/16 they make a 60over 301 piston still available at case ih.Im working on a460 now putting in a 301.
