John, That is not uncomon acording to a old Allis guy in town for a generator to be set to the high setting, thus 14 volts. I run several of the old timers with a 12 volt battery, just unhook the generator wire. This is supposed to be bad for the generator. Another thing that I get away with is no resistor to the points, even though it doesn't cost much. The altenator is a big plus if you idle the tractor alot, as the generator probably needs 1/2 throttle to give it a kick. DAVE NE IOWA
