hawkins: I have not had any experience with the Cub, but on my Super A I had to overcome position problems to avoid cutting hood and still make it look decent. I achieved this by using a double pulley from a V8 Olds or Buick. Not saying this will work on Cub, but may be worth a look. The other solution you see, with some Farmalls is using a smaller alternator. From some Japaneese cars, Toyota and Nissan for example. I guess it is a Hitashi alternator. Just some thoughts, someone will come along with exact solution.
