Those tractors were designed to be used with a TA and are really quite efficient if maintained properly. While the TA was known to be a little tempermental most of the problems arose from operator abuse and improper adjustment. Adjustment of clutch, TA,etc. is crucial with these units. You really have to watch it when someone is claiming to have a tractor with the TA delete option. IH did offer this option on most tractors. Most of the time though someone has either removed the TA lever or gutted the TA and put a shaft in it to eliminate it. There is a big difference. The genuine TA delete option from IH may have some value for collectors. The ones that have been scrapped or cobbled are worth a lot less in my opinion.
