A few things come to mind in addition to those below. If the noise is right behind the engine and does not go away when you push in the clutch it is motor related possibly a bad connecting rod bearing. If it stops it could be a loose flywheel or some other clutch related item loose or out of adjustment. If it sounds like it is closer or towards the rear end it could be that the �knuckle� joint just in front of the transmission is getting loose. If the belly pump is still in it, it could also be a worn drive coupler between the countershaft and the pump.
