Allan: Well, we are seeing who read the manual and who didn't. IH wedge locks should be tightened to 500 ft. lbs. 100 lb pull on that 5 foot wrench handle that came with tractor. They didn't come loose if properly tightened. I doubt if the hammer guys got them loose with a hammer if properly tightened. I know of several of these tractors that never had a loose wheel in 20,000 hours, and with duals. Just when wedge locks were introduced I'm not sure. All of the 856's around here have them. I'm guessing in 66 and 86 all 9s and larger have them around here. I think they were standard over 100 hp and optional below.
