Allan’s correct about removing the front cap and “unscrewing” the shaft out of the steering box.

The pivot shaft worm gear cannot be flipped over - it’s on a tapered spline and only fits one way. However if it is a full gear it can be ROTATED 180 deg and reinstalled. On the other hand if it is a sector type (half moon shaped) gear you are outta luck – it can only be installed one way.

Note: If your steering is sloppy check also for wear on the pivot shaft bushings – especially the upper one. If you find ANY radial play in the upper bushing it should be replaced while you’ve got the front end apart!
