The 966 had a 414 engine stock, the 986 had the 436. Is the engine you have stamped 437, or how do you know it is a 437? Just for your info, I converted the 414 in my 966 to a 436 by changing the crank and ordering in the 436 sleeve set. I also added a turbo off a 1066 and was very pleased with what I got for torque even without changing the settings on the fuel pump!
