Wes: They are determined to get the price of a new tractor from you whether you buy it or not. A person will soon have to be content to just look at the tractor rather than use it. I ran into the same thing last year. Retaining spring for Super A brake pedal $28. in Canadian funds. Parts guy did say the broken one in my hand was original and if the new one lasted as long, it was a good buy. I didn't share his expectations.
