If you have an older A with the vertical shaft that has a square end sticking out of the bottom of the steering box, it is probrobly worn bad at that spot . Also, the keyway on the shaft that holds the sector gear is also worn. On one of mine, I shimmed the square shaft with pieces of a tin can. and fixed the keyway. On the other, I replaced the square shaft with a shaft from a newer model tractor, 100 or 140or something,don't remember which, and replaced the steering arm also. this method also requires machine work on the sector gear keyway ie. cut new keyway 180 degrees fom the old one.
