I don't believe so. We have an 806 and a 1256 with over 10,000 hours on each and no tranny trouble. What do you mean by bad transmissions? The main difference between the two in the shift on the transmission. The 1256 has a 407 turbo, the 1206 has the 361 turbo. Far as I know, unless your pulling, but are rated around the same hp, both can be turned up considerably. For loader work, the 56 shift is nicer. You can go from reverse to high without going through low.
