We have tiger stripe clay loam soil here in northeast Missouri. The problem I have is getting the power to the ground,so I stick with a 2/16 plow and run in 3rd and 4th gear. I pulled a 16 foot disk set deep with the wheels lifted last fall covering up broadcast wheat and only had trouble in one wet spot. My gas tractor will far out pull the diesel, but at 5 to 6 gallons of gas per hour I choose the diesel for working at 1.5 to 2.5 gallons per hour depending on how hard it is working. I farm 80 acres of mixed hay and rowcrops and I farm on shares with the neighbor on another 80acres,same soil. I didn't sat it would not pull 3 or 4 plows,I just said it would work it hard and I would stay with a 2 bottom setup. I was out this spring with a one bottom moldboard plow behind the 560 gasser cutting some drains in crop fields, kind of looked funny on there.
