touch control valve on a 300U

A few years ago I added a second valve to my 300U and it has never worked correctly. The valve for the 2 pt hitch works OK so I know its the valve. The lever doesn't seem to go into one position all the way most of the time and the result is it works slowly. It works most of the time in the other direction but this year it started to not always work correctly either. There is a feel for when the handle is engaged correctly for normal lifting and the feel isn't there. Can anyone give me an idea what to look for?
