Rough running H

I have an H with a loader and use it almost daily, After a rough day it has not really run well. It spits and sputters and backfires through the carb. I have tried setting the carb with the screws but no help. I took it off cleaned it up, check points plugs and cap is fairly new along with wires. I am going to check the float but don't really know how to set it. Any help or ideas. I thought the screws should be screwed all in and out 1.5 turns then set from there.
