184 Lo Boy Hydraulic Problem

Recently my dad did some work on his 184 Lo Boy. The work included draining the transmission oil (which is also used by the hydraulics it appears). When he got everything back together he filled with oil and the tractor drives around great and all but the hydraulics do not work. Is there a trick to these after you put it back together? Do you have to prime the pump or something? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
