I had this problem on my 1941 W4 The steering is different but the manual recommended this. The worm gear rides in another round gear. This other gear can be taken off and rotated so you are using less commonly used teeth. I also found the gear was loose and torqued it down. This reduced my steering wheel slack from 5/8 turn to less than 1/4 and significantly reduced the wobbling on pavement.
