W6 gauge trouble

I bought an oil pressure gauge for our W6 about a year ago. A month later, it got stuck at 0. I blew it out and it never worked quite the same. It would take a long time to move.(would still have oil pressure 5 or 6 minutes after the tractor shut off) Has anyone else had trouble with this? Can I put an adaptor on it with an air compressor fitting and use my air compressor to test it, or will that make it worse? It is one of those gauges that have the male end on the gauge and require an adaptor to the oil pressure line from the block. It was purchased from a Case IH dealer. Can anyone give me any ideas?Thanks for your help.
