If the surface of the pressure plate is good, and the sping tension is good, AND you know he correct spec. for the finger height, there is certainly nothing wrong with adjusting them! Furthermore, I have encountered "rebuilt" units with improperly adjusted fingers. It is a good idea to check every clutch you work with. Even if you do not have the spec. for the finger height, you can at least verify that they are all even, which is IMPORTANT for proper clutch operation.
