Actually, the 300U was wildly popular (look at the number of s/n's they went through in just two model years!). Their market was a mixed one, both agricultural and construction. Probably a lot of them got really pounded to death on construction sites. Of the remainder, they seem to be hard at work, still earning their 'keep.' So maybe they don't get talked about so much, but it seems like they get mentioned out of all proportion to their being built for only 18 months! I've been running one for a couple of months now, and honestly don't see how we got along without it. It's a Farmall H with all the things you might wish for as mods...but stock. Live hydraulics, an extra remote, live PTO, wide front, extra power, a bit more comfortable adjustable seat, etc. It retains most of the 'H' qualities of being dirt-simple, sensible controls, and tough as nails. With the 300U, International put it's finger rather firmly in Henry Ford's eye, and sent a clear message that it was not going to let the market for the utility tractor go quite so easily as Ford had hoped...
