R Ney: 40 years ago a man my dad was aquainted with, came to my dad with the following question. How do you like your Farmall 130 as a second tractor for mowing, raking, etc.? He made 90% of his income trucking, and had a 25 cow beef herd. He already had a 350 tractor, that he bought new. He just wanted a small tractor to speed up haying and not take him away from his trucking as long. My dad told him that SA, 100 or 130 would be great for what he wanted. He then went tractor shopping, and came home with a 460 that he bought for less money than any of the SA, 100 or 130 he saw. That 460 has sat around broke down most of the past 40 years, until he died and his son sold it quickly. He said," cant keep the old man's money pit any longer." Sizing the tractor to your needs very important. It would just surprise you how many tractors are parked around North America, needing some extensive repairs, and an owner either unwilling or unable to come up with cash to fix it.
