They were usually on the right side seat frame for the older ones. 1940 & up series were decaled on the sides of the fuel tanks. IH always used a metal tag for the mod/ser info readly seen without looking to hard. Usually around the operators area or near the dash. If no tag, check the engine number stamped on right side of the block near the center top. Of course a photo would help.
