2Pt is basically a wishbone suspended under the tractor - impliments have matching arms that latch into the back of the wishbone assembly. No top link. True 3pt has two lower arms which are ball and socket at both ends, front attaching to tractor and rear to impliment. Has a top link. There are several devices available to adapt 2pt to 3pt. Either a couple of plug-in arms with balls on the end, plus a top link, or an adapter which slides in to the 2pt, and makes it like a fast hitch 3pt unit. IMHO the 3pt is the better choice, overall, and yup, I've got a 2pt/3pt conversion.
