I am courious, if you start the tractor and run five minutes, will it shut down alright. Then does it diesel after getting up torunning temperature or after working it. If this is the case and I suspect that it is. The problem is not the alt or diode, but rather the fuel that you are using. The fuels today are not high enough in octane and lead. I have a M and H that have overbores and 5000ftaltd. pistons, they absolutely won't shut off, other than killing them, without using octane boost. This you can get about anywhere. You can test to see if alt is problem,by disconnecting wires(all wires)from alt, and run and shut down.
