Hello Hal. I did have a 1961 Rambler American. But I don't remember if it had a generator or not. It was my first car. My Farmal M does not have a voltage regulator that is automatic. It is a hand operated switch for high or low charge. Most of the time you have to run it on low charge if you are plowing or something with the engine running pretty fast. But I haven't plowed with it in years since they invented all of these RoundUp Ready beans! But I still use the Super C and Cub Lowboy for cutting grass around the farm and general small stuff.
