darby: It was an option although I'm not sure it was built by IH. It should have been on all 1066 and 1466. There just isn't enough rubber on the rear to put all that horsepower on the ground. If you put duals on them, it beats the conventional wide front to bits. Under heavy load duals want to make tractor go straight ahead, the MFD will eliminate that problem. I think there may have been other aftermarket MFD that could be fitted to that tractor. That was the experience I had with a new two wheel drive 1066 close to 30 years ago. Bough it single, went to duals, then beat the crap out of brakes and wide front turning with heavy loads. I have since operated big tractors like that with duals and front drive, what a difference it makes.
