As I recall the serial number would be on an aluminum ID tag riveted to the vertical sheet metal panel at the rear of the engine. On these earlier tractors the engine serial number generally matched the chassis number. The engine number is stamped into a flat pad on the engine block. Towards the front on the right, I believe. The serial number should start with a couple of letters (I think my 10-20s have KC and 15-30s TG). I have 10-20s, 15-30s and a 22-36, but they are at my other place 120 miles away. It's my understanding that the 22-36 is the same as a 15-30 with a larger cylinder bore. I have also been told that although 22-36 decals are sold today, McCormick Deering never decaled them with 22-36. Another difference is the 15-30s have a flat fan belt while the 22-36s have a "V" belt. the 15-30s were gray and the 22-36s red.
This is all off the top of my head so if it is in error I'm sure someone will and some commentary. I won't be offended.
