Rear mount mowers are best for those who are still young enough to swivel their heads back and forth to watch the mower and where they are going at the same time. Belly mounts really cut down on that action, and to my mind make mowing a lot safer if there are any obstructions to worry about. Another good thing about the belly mount is that you can set the rear wheels out as wide as possible, or even use duals, for rough or steep ground. With any kind of rear mount you have to keep the right wheel in close enough so it doesn't stomp down the grass before the mower gets to it.
