IH 2444 newbee needs advice

just bought my first tractor, an IH 2444, think its a 1970. Have ordered an owners manual for the series. This tractor has a F/E loader and 6' brushhog. There are fluid leaks, not enough to see while running, but enough to spot after its parked. The hydraulics all seem sound and don't leak. I think an approach to getting it into better shape would be to grease it up (done), change fluids/filters, adjust brakes (it stops if you stand on the pedals but is stiff), adjust linkages on various levers and controls, extend exhaust and maybe add muffler?, it really heats up my right foot. But what next? Advice anyone?
