Just a thought but there is a trip mechanism that would allow the cutter bar to release and swing to the rear if the cutter bar struck a rock. You had to backup with the cutter bar on the ground to reset. In the tripped position the PTO shaft would not be aligned properly. The other problem with SC is the PTO output shaft is much higher up on the rear end of the tractor than a 300U. For proper operation the PTO shaft should be straight inline with the PTO output shaft on the SC. Then to get the proper cutter bar height you have to adjust the chain on the cutter bar lifting mechanism.
