One more difference is the air cleaner. I belive that the 856 Custom only had a small canister with a single element. I know that the fuel tank on the Customs was 37 gallons, while regular 856's had 42 gallon tanks. The last 856 Custom I saw had 16.9x38 rear rubber with the clamp-style wheels, while most regular 856's have wedge-lock rear wheels.
